Deleting your Driftile data

Driftile can be played without signing in, and in versions without the friends feature nothing about your game reaches us unless you publish a level or rate one — everything else is on your device, and uninstalling removes it.
In versions with the friends feature, the game creates a player account for you automatically: no email, no sign-up, nothing to agree to. There is then something held about you whether or not you ever signed in, and Settings → Delete account removes it. The section below says which versions those are and what the button reaches. The full detail of what is held and why is in the privacy policy.
What we hold, if you have an account
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | So we can recognise you, and so your game can follow you to another phone |
| Your progress | Levels solved, best moves, stars, streaks, statistics, awards, and the hints and jokers you own |
| Your settings | Appearance, board style, tile material and sound |
| Levels you built | Including drafts you never published, so they survive a new phone |
| Levels you published to Community | The board, its title, and the nickname on your profile — these are public |
| Your daily puzzle results | The date and the moves, so the day's solver count is right |
| Anything you bought | So a purchase is not lost with the phone |
Deleting it from inside the app
The fastest route, if you still have Driftile installed:
Open Driftile → tap your profile picture → scroll to the bottom → Delete account.
This removes your account and everything held against it, and takes down any levels you published. It happens immediately, you do not have to ask us, and it cannot be undone.
Deleting it if you have already uninstalled
Email [email protected] from the address you signed in with, and ask us to delete your account.
Sending it from that address is how we know the request is yours. We will not delete an account on the word of somebody who cannot show they own it — that protection is the reason this is an email rather than a form anyone can fill in about anyone.
We confirm within 30 days, and normally within a day or two.
What is removed, and what is not
Removed: your account, your email address, your synced progress and settings, the levels you built, any levels you published to Community, your player profile and the figures on it, your friends list and the invite codes between you, your results in rounds played with friends, the record of your daily results shared with them, the ratings and reports you gave community levels, your list of blocked players, and your per-level results — which move counts and stars you got on each one. Also the link between your account and your daily puzzle results.
Ratings you gave are removed and the affected levels' averages are recalculated without your vote. An earlier version of this page said a rating could not be found because it was tied only to a random device code; that was wrong when you were signed in, where it is derived from your account id, and it has been corrected.
If somebody else blocked you, that block is not deleted — it belongs to them, not to you, and it is theirs to lift. What is removed from it is your name: after deletion it says only Anonymous.
Not removed, because it was never linked to you:
- Crash reports. These carry no identifier we assign to you — no IP address, no user record — so there is nothing in one that could be matched to your account. They age out on their own schedule.
- The solver count for a day. Once a day's total says "4,812 people solved this", removing your row does not un-count you: the total is a number, not a list, and nothing in it names you.
Your device is cleared as well. Your progress, your settings and the levels you built are removed from the phone you press the button on, and the app restarts with a new, empty account.
This changed on 5 September 2026. Deletion used to leave the device untouched, on the reasoning that erasing the copy on our server is not a request to wipe the phone in your hand — and for anyone who had never signed in that made the button do nothing they could see, because for them the copy on the device is the account.
A few things on the phone outlast the button, and each one is deliberate. None of them is a record of you, and none of them is held by us:
- Purchases. Not ours to delete: Google Play and the App Store hold the record of what you bought. Settings → Restore purchases brings them back.
- Your advertising choice. Whether you allowed personalised advertising is stored on your device by Google's own consent SDK, not by us — we never read it or write it, and it is a setting about your device's advertising identifier rather than about your account. It is unaffected by deleting an account because it was never attached to one, which is also why you can change or withdraw it at any time from Settings → Privacy, signed in or not. Section 7 of the privacy policy is the detail.
- A few answers the app remembers so it does not ask twice — which version of the privacy policy this device has seen, and whether you have already been asked about notifications or invited to rate the game. Nothing in these identifies you and none of it is sent to us. They stay on purpose: starting fresh should not mean being asked everything again on the next launch, and notifications you switched off should stay off.
Uninstalling the app removes the last two; purchases stay with the store either way.
We can only clear the device you are holding. A second phone signed in to the same account keeps whatever is on it until you delete there too, or uninstall.
If you never signed in
Which version you have decides this, so both answers are here.
In any build with the friends feature switched on, which is both stores' builds today: the game creates a player account for you automatically — no email, no sign-up, nothing to agree to — and a copy of your figures is kept on our server from your first game. Settings → Delete account works exactly the same way without an email address, and removes the same list above. Uninstalling alone is not enough.
In the version currently on Google Play, where the feature is switched off: there is nothing of that kind to delete. Nothing about your game reaches us unless you publish a level or rate one, and uninstalling removes the rest.
Either way the button is in the same place and does the right thing for the version you have; you do not have to work out which one you are holding.
One limitation we would rather state than hide: an account made this way lives on your phone, and there is nothing that proves a different phone is you. If you lose the device we cannot identify the account and cannot delete it on request. Signing in with an email address is what makes it both recoverable and reachable by email.
